Loving All (Matthew 5:38-48)

Jesus said that the greatest commandment was to love God with all our heart, mind, soul and strength, and the second is to love our neighbor as ourselves.  But in the text today he gives us an even harder thing to live up to - love our enemies.  How can we do that?  How is it even possible?  Well today we will look at this very question.

Overcoming Sin (Matthew 5:21-37)

Today's lesson from the Sermon on the Mount may be a little difficult to take.  At best, it is a very convicting passage.  But we will look at how God's grace shines through in the words of Jesus to show to us, sinners saved by grace, just how much we need a savior.  (Recorded at Ebenezer UMC in Auburn, NJ on February 16, 2014)

Salty, Shining Righteousness (Matthew 5:13-20)

Jesus said that we are salt and light.  But what do these things mean to us today?  This week, we take an in-depth look at some of Jesus' sayings from the Sermon on the Mount, and also examine what it means to be called to righteousness while living under God's grace.  (Recorded at Hudson UMC in Pedricktown, NJ on February 9, 2014)

The Blessed (Matthew 5:1-12)

This week we begin to look at Jesus' teaching, and we start with the Beatitudes.  These proverb-like blessings hold the key to life in the kingdom of Heaven, a central theme to Jesus' teaching, especially in Matthew's gospel. (This week's episode was recorded at Ebenezer UMC in Auburn, NJ; portions recorded at Hudson UMC in Pedricktown, NJ.)
